ryjwidechurchillAfter a bunch of petit robustos I will continuing with a couple of robustos, first up is one of the latest additions to the RyJ range – the Wide Churchill.

Vitola: Montesco (55 x 130) (Robusto).

History: 2010 release.

Overview: smooth light brown wrapper, very little tooth, reasonable amount of oil, small veins, very tight seams, great looking cigar, cold notes of barnyard, cocoa, pepper, milk chocolate, very pleasant, draw is a touch loose with cherries, cedar and unsweetened chocolate.

Taste: starts earthy with vanilla on background, cream, pleasant start but the slight wind tunnel draw is hurting it, mild to medium bodied, not too much flavour but pleasant, draw has corrected itself on the start of the second third, some floral notes appearing, bitterness, espresso, dry floral bitterness, some nice sweetness on final third, about a 50 minute smoke (yep, surprised I smoked it that fast).

Comments: reminding me Monte Open series, seems to be a modern Cuban profile, about 87 points.
